The contents of this thesis cover the details, steps and procedures in carrying out accuracy testing for a conventional lathe which involve geometrical and practical tests. The methodology laid down is aimed towards reconditioning of the lathe prior to CNC retrofit. A case study and proposals for futureworks in the later chapters of this thesis will, hopefully, give a clearer picture on the process involved in testing for accurancy and reconditioning a lathe for CNC retrofit.
