This paper is aimed at research on the procedures of designing wake-adaptedpropellers. A computer programme will then be written using the procedureto calculate the required parameters for the propeller. Prioerity is given to lifting line and lifting-surface theories which produce good resultsin the incorporation of wake-adapted factors. In chapter One some introductory text is written to explain the nature of the thesis.Chapter Two and Three explain methods of propeller design using eithertheory or experimental methods. In Chapter Two the systematic seriesis explained along with the fundamentals of teh vortex theory. Chapter 3deals with the utilisation of current theories of lifting-line and lifting-surface. the methods in the development of the programme is explained inChapter Four while Chapter Five delas mainly with the evaluation of theresults obtained.The final chapter provides some conclusion to the results of the study while the appendices contain charts to be used in the calculation, the algorithms, the results and also the source code. References are given at suitable locations to aid in the understanding of this paper.
