The objective of this project is to design a microcomputer based parallel processor to enable the studies on the architectures of parallel machines. This thesis will illustrate the concepts of parallel processing which includes various types of interconnections and its suitability to various types of applications. The project has been divided into four parts, i.e. computer engine, internode router, fast serial link and host operating system. The authoris responsible to design and build a computer engine for the hypercube parallel computer. The computer engine is a complete microcomputer system that can support itself without connection from the outside world. The study scopeincludes : 1. Study the various parallel processing methods particularly the hypercube system. 2. design and build a 68010 based microprocessor system for the computer engine. 3. Developing the necessary software to test the microcomputer system and also its operating system.
