Choice Review
Roddy's revision (1st ed., 1989) provides broad coverage for satellite communications technology. He includes fundamentals of orbital mechanics, propagation effects, description of terminal systems and signal types employed in satellite links, interference, multiple access methods, and descriptions of selected satellite services. Lengthy mathematical derivations are avoided, but their results are explained and reinforced through examples. Readers need some familiarity with basic communication circuits and systems. Material particularly applicable to satellite communications is reviewed as needed. Well illustrated, with relevant appendixes. Problems are given at the end of each chapter. Upper-division undergraduates. O. Eknoyan Texas A&M University
