Choice Review

Drawing from extensive experience in the academic and business worlds, Harris (management and organizational psychologist) and Moran (American Graduate School of International Management) discuss the impact of culture on global management and the specifics of culture by geographic region. The first nine chapters address timely topics such as leadership, communications, negotiations and strategic alliances, cultural change, cultural synergy, cross-culture managing, transitions and relocations, diversity, and marketplace performance. The final six chapters deal with effective business communication with regions of the world--North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The authors present critical information on sensitivities required for business people to be effective around the world, provide multicultural awareness, and contribute insights into motivating and understanding people from various cultures. The text is enhanced by the highlightings of a key sentence or two on nearly every page. References; directory of multicultural resources. This well-written book is highly recommended not only for professionals but also for MBA and upper-division undergraduate students interested in the management of cultural differences. J. W. Leonard Miami University
