Abstract:
The aims of this project are to introduce the concept of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and to outline the refined steps of TPM implementation in aparticular manufacturing companyin Malaysia. Literature studies on TPM concepts were covered to fully understand the benefits of TPM in a manufacturing company. A cmprehensive study of TPM implementation steps is required before the planning of a refined impplementation steps for a particular company. A case study was carried out in Hitachi Cable (Johor) Sdn Bhd. to determine the company's maintenance organization, current level of breakdowns and defects. Then, a proposed planning steps of TPM implementation is introduced after some adjustment and refinement were made to suit tthe company requirements. CMMS was also introduced to the company as a tool to enhance the performance of the maintenance organization.
