Abstract:
The influence of a large number of variables, many of which are interrelated make the study of the grinding process very difficult. Hence their individual control or individual influence is very difficult to ssess. The infeed rate and spark out are among the main parameters in plungecut cylindrical grinding operation to be understood and controlled. This project mainly deals with the study of the effect of varying the infeed rate, which is divided into the roughing phase and the finishing phase, and he spark out time, on the wheel-work interface force developed and workpiece surface produced The effect of dressing prior to the test carried out was also investigated. From the results obtained, the optimum combination of the grinding phases was selected as a predictor to give the minimum grinding cycle time.
