Summary
Summary
Primarily intended for undergraduate students in mathematics, physics and engineering, this text provides in-depth coverage of differential equations and the methods of solving them.
The text begins with basic definitions, the physical and geometric origins of differential equations, and methods for solving first-order differential equations. It then goes on to describe the application of these equations in areas such as biology, medical sciences, electrical engineering and economics. The text also discusses higher-order differential equations and their application to telecommunications, civil engineering, cardiology and detection of diabetes; and the methods of solving simultaneous differential equations and their practical application. The book also provides a detailed discussion of Laplace transformations and their applications; partial differential equations and their applications to vibration of a stretched string, heat flow, and transmission lines; and calculus of variations and its application.
