Abstract:
The growing importance of maintenance cost control has resulted in the need for an afficient and effective maintenance management system. The objective of the project was to examine suitable optimization and reliability analysis procedures and to develop a personal computer based Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Analysis (MORA) software package. The software is used to analyze machine's history data in order to obtain an optimal maintenance interval and information of machine reliability. Three techniques had been proposed for the above purpose; one employing statistical approach while the other two consider minimization of the total cost. Regression analysis was done on machine history data so that correlation between some parameters with maintenance interval could be obtained. The correlation obtained provided useful information. The necessary background theories and curve-fitting techiques are given in this report. The program structure design was also explained, with an overview on specifications of the software. Some suggestions on areas of improvement for further develoment are given.
