Abstract:
Travel behaviors have changed quite significantly over the years in esponse to a number of factors, i.e., increased car ownership, changes in lifestyle and the establishment of new forms of fcilities. The planning of an effective road network and transportation schemes demand for some information of trip generation characteristics based on local scenarios. Since for the past yeyears, engineers and planners have adopted the characteristics that have been established based for other counries' characteristics. in view of the fact that travel behavior may differ attempted to this study form place to place of different natures, investigate the current trip-making characteristics of hospitals and conventional markets, including vehicle and person trip gengation rates, to establish the relationships between trip making behavior with various factors applicable to the Malaysian enviornment and also to provide information about trip rate that would be used to assess the impact of new or expanded land-use to reflect Malaysian scenarios. The rate obtained from the study can provide a guide to estimate the amount of traffic generated by development that enable the analyst to predict the adequacy of the existing transport facility to accommodate the additional traffic.
