Winch and Gingell's glossary aims to provide an "at-your-fingertips" guide to key concepts and terms in the philosophy of education. Their goal is to give students and teachers access to these key concepts by supplying clear definitions, cross-references, and alphabetically arranged headwords. Entries vary in length from a short paragraph to a few pages. Also included are an extensive bibliography and name and subject indexes. The book's detail and scope are broader than A Dictionary of Education, ed. by P.J. Hills (CH, Jun'83), and narrower than Philosophy of Education: An Encyclopedia, ed. by J.J Chambliss (CH, Jan'87). A good choice for supplemental reading or research. Recommended for undergraduates and above. D. L. Luce; Faulkner University
