Booklist Review

If total home safety seems desirable to you, this is your book. Excruciatingly attentive to detail and comprehensive in coverage, it addresses every conceivable safety concern in the home in near maddeningly organized fashion (organization is this book's byword). Heberle and Scutella don't just advocate a highly systematic approach to diagnosing and treating potential home safety problems; they append forms for executing "safe job analysis" and "home safety audits" and for taking minutes at your "home safety meeting." Their specific suggestions range from the obscure (stretching exercises and safety glasses for gardening) to the obvious (store chemicals out of children's reach). In many homes, safety and other home improvements languish on permanent hold. This home safety book to top all home safety books provides the impetus and specific planning tips to get the safety projects going and even completed. --Mike Tribby
