Macintosh computers are in the forefront of the desktop-communication revolution. In this invaluable handbook, two Mac experts show just what it means to be ``well connected.'' The fundamental tools used to extend the range of a single computer-modems and networks (specifically the AppleTalk system)-are explored in detail, as are the various methods of communicating with mainframes and with the IBM PC and PS/2. In addition to explaining the conceptual side of networks, the authors also discuss the particular communication services provided to AppleTalk users, including print spooling, dedicated file sharing, and private electronic mail.
