This thesis is undertaken to tackle the inventory control problems faced insmall and medium size industries. The term small and medium size industrieswas defined. The problems commonly faced in this industries on matters related to inventory was later identified. An observation in an existing small and medium size industry situated in Tampoi, Johor has also been carried out.Thsi included an observation on present method and documentation for inventory in the chosen company.As a solution to problem faced, a proposed recording system for inventorycontrol has be designed. This involved a software design written in dBASE IVR. The software designed is menu driven which enables users to use it without prior computer knowledges. The program features was then discussed.Suggestions were also forwarded to the company. The suggestion included a proposed codification of materials as well as control procedures afterclassification of material is obtained. This suggestion were included as it is the major requirement for the implementation of the software in thecompany.The thesis concludes with the advantages and disadvantages of the designedsoftware. A recommendation for future students to continue with this thesishas also been given.
