Abstract:
Riding comfort in today's sophisticated and expensive passenger vehicle are greatly improved through the adaptation of continous controlled dampers and springs, known as "active suspension". Majority of road users in Malaysia are form the middle class income group who cannot afford such expensive system. With the aim of fulfilling those majority road users, the riding cmfort of the present "passive suspension" vehicle, will have to be improved. This project identifies those parameters that affect ride and comfort in a PROTON WIRA 1.6 A/T. A physical testing as planned in the initial stage, but was postponed due to unforseen circumstances. Instead a quarter car methematical modelling was constructed, manual calculation conducted and validating it with a computer simulation. Finally the comfprt level of the present car was established.
