The primary advantages of CAD/CAM include faster response with improved documentation, improved accuracy and quality, reduced lead times, cost saving, ability to produce complex product, higher productivity and etc. This project attempts to appraise two different CAD/CAM system ie. SmartCAM on PC based and Unigraphics 11 on workstation based which had been set up for CNC machining at the Production Engineering Laboratory, FKJ using both methodology in quantitative and qualitative consiederation. The quantitative factor invloved part programming time and the qualitative factor involved the machined part quality and system attributes. The results will show that Unigraphics 11 emerged both of the factor as the suitable software in producing the difference complexity of machined components.
