Abstract:
This paper presents the state-of-the art applications of speech recognitiontechniques in passive surface vessel and then discuses the application ofthis technology for moving ship detection. A system of capable of recognition speakre dependent isolated speech ulterances on Bahasa Malayu with an accuracy of 96.72% is adapted for this purpose. This system uses Linear Predictive Coding (LPC) and Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) for implementation LPC extracts the feature from a speech signal by computing the autocorrelation, reflection and log area ratio coefficient. TheDTW is used to time-align two words while calculating the distance between them. The importance and exploitation of the physics of sound in the sea to the passive surface vessel has been recognized. This project relates the fundamental principles of underwater acoustic signature of a vessel and its association with the maritime needs.Eventually, this paper will highlight the feasibility of speech recognitiontechniques in passive surface vessel detection and implies some futuredirection of this field in the maritime world.
