Abstract:
The modern single processor computer has reached a stage where it cannot deal with complex problems more efficiently. There is a trend moving towards parallelism in computer in order to solve problems faster and in a more efficient way. This trend had brought about the implementation of a general purpose two dimension hypercube parallel computer in UTM. There are four differentparts in this project : namely the computer engine (CE), internode router (IR), the host interface for the hypercube host which is a personal computer and the operating system for the hypercube. The writer of this thesis is involved in designing and implementing the host interface card. This will provide the link between the PC based host and the hypercube computer. Some PC features are utilized for this card that is direct memory access capabilities,parallel input/output and interrupt based input. The software modules developed for this project is written in C language for probility ease across different computing platform.
