Choice Review
Although there are many texts written about change leadership today, this one is outstanding because it is forward thinking and focuses on new realities in the world that require business people to adjust their priorities and behaviors as well as their values. Business and organizational ethics scholar Beerel (Southern New Hampshire Univ.) discusses the relationship of systems thinking to the leadership role, which connects the various components of an organization with its competing goals and interests. The book is aimed at readers interested in leadership, management, and organizational behavior and ethics. Its goal is to assist them in becoming more adaptive and capable of effectively navigating the change processes required for success in today's business environment. The text includes charts, tables, and bulleted lists, which are helpful in grasping key points and thinking about their application in the real world. In addition, each chapter includes personal exercises, executive summaries, lists of key concepts, case studies, and suggestions for further reading. There is also a comprehensive bibliography, which will be useful for researchers. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduate through professional audiences. G.
