Summary

If At First You Don't Succeed

For two years, Justice Turnbull has paced his room at Halo Valley Security Hospital, planning to escape. Justice has a mission-one that began with a vicious murder two decades ago. And there are so many others who must be sent back to the hell that spawned them. . .

Kill. . .

Laura Adderley didn't plan to get pregnant by her soon-to-be ex-husband, though she'll do anything to protect her baby. But now reporter Harrison Frost is asking questions about the mysterious group of women who live at Siren Song lodge. Harrison hasn't figured out Laura's connection to the story yet. But Justice knows. And he is coming. . .

Then Kill Again. . .

All her life, Laura has been able to sense approaching evil. But that won't stop a psychopath bent on destroying her. Justice has been unleashed, and this time, there will be no place safe to hide. . .

Praise for Wicked Game

"Chilling. . . Swift pacing and an intriguing plot make this a first-rate supernatural thriller." -- Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Author Notes

Romance author Lisa Jackson grew up in Oregon. She graduated from Oregon State University and started working in the banking/investment industry. In the early 1980s, she stopped working in order to become a stay-at-home mom and started writing romance novels at the suggestion of her sister and fellow romance author Nancy Bush. She published her first novel, A Twist of Fate, in 1983. Her books regularly appear on the New York Times, USA Today and Publisher's Weekly bestseller lists. In April 2011 Lisa Jackson's title Devious hit the Publisher's Weekly bestseller list and in Aug 2012 her title You Don't Want to Know made The New York Times Best Seller List. In 2014 she continued this trend with her book, Close to Home.

Publisher's Weekly Review

Sisters Jackson and Bush craftily combine suspense with the paranormal in this rich sequel to 2009's bestselling Wicked Game. Laura Adderley, a nurse at a coastal Oregon hospital and a member of the psychic sisterhood of the Colony, is uneasily pregnant with her philandering ex-husband's child. Serial killer Justice Turnbull is hunting members of the Colony, so when he escapes from a nearby psychiatric hospital, Laura fears for her own life and her unborn child's. She begs the help of Harrison Frost, a reporter writing a story on Justice's escape and his connection to the Colony, and soon Harrison's undeniable attraction to her and desire to protect her outweigh his longing to follow the story. The affable protagonists maintain their individual identities as their romance sizzles to life, and several subplots add depth to this somewhat lengthy but deftly plotted and enticing read. Library Journal Review

It's been two years since Laura (Lorelie) Adderley has heard psychopathic serial killer Justice Turnbull's voice in her head. His sibilant whispers suddenly scratch at her mind, and she learns that he has escaped and is on his way back to Discovery Bay. It's clear that the gifted women of her family cloistered at Siren Song lodge-or anyone who gets in the way-are no longer safe, and it's only a matter of time before the slaughter begins again. As the bodies pile up, Laura finally reaches out to journalist Harrison Frost, but will it be in time and is he the "truth seeker" whom her sister Cassandra says she needs? VERDICT Once again, siblings Jackson and Bush have teamed up on a chilling, slightly paranormal thriller that continues the story begun in Wicked Games. Terrifying, grim, and downright creepy, this is one that may give you second thoughts about visiting the Oregon coast (sorry, Oregon) and is definitely one you don't want to read alone at night. Best-selling authors in their own right, Jackson lives in the Pacific Northwest, and Bush lives in Oregon. (c) Copyright 2011. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
