This dissertation is a study of the growth and development of Jalan Ulu Kelang, emphasizing on the residential sector. It attempts to analyze the factors that contribute to the growth and thus traces the reasons for the area's popularity as a prime residential suburb of Kuala Lumpur. The past, present and future forms of developments and types of land use are analized together with special features of the residential developments which are peculiar to the study area. In addition, the general trend of property values of the area is analized and reasons are given to relate with the trend. A conclusion is the drawn where the problems evident in the area relating primarily to the residential sector are identified and probable solutions are subsequently suggested. A glimpse of the future of Ulu Kelang is looked into, focusing on whether the area will continue to develope rapidly and if so, why?
