An artificial neural network (ANN) formulation for forecasting the growth of manufacturing industries in Malaysia is presented. The effectiveness of architecture for predicting one criterion, Y from several predictors X is investigated. Cmparative studies are examined between the result of the pridictions from the ANN model trained with a modified back-propagation training rule,a generalize regression neural networks(GRNN) algoritm and the result obtained from traditional statistical approach.
