Summary

Summary

This reference work now includes 250 articles - many of them new to this volume - in all major environmental subjects of broad interest: from rainforests to hazardous waste and sewage treatment. It offers a complete overview of current environmental problems and the solutions needed to ultimately protect and preserve our environment. Numerous photographs, diagrams, charts, graphs, and line drawings supplement the text.

Choice Review

Earlier editions of some of the titles listed here have been reviewed or briefly noted in these pages (Encyclopedia of Chemistry, 1st ed., CH, May'83; Encyclopedia of Engineering, 1st ed., CH, May'83; Encyclopedia of Environmental Science, 1st ed., CH, Apr'75 and 2nd ed., CH, Sep'80). All five are composed of articles reprinted with little change from McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology (7th ed., 1992). Libraries that own the parent set need not consider these clones, but they may have utility for collections that support study in the fields covered, especially if the parent set seems too expensive.
