Choice Review

The breadth of coverage of this excellent modern handbook is amazing. It is intended not only for the use of electrical engineers, but for anyone who encounters electrical equipment and problems on the job. The quality of a large handbook is very much dependent on the expertise and background of the persons writing the various segments and the standards set by the editors. The five editors and the more than 100 contributors have done a very creditable job. Topics covered reflect recent applications and changes in this field, such as medical applications of electronics, navigation, and aircraft landing systems. There is a large section on computers and information processing. Diagrams, illustrations, and tables are very good. References and a good bibliography contribute much to the value of this book. A must-have book for college and technical school libraries serving engineering and science programs; also recommended for large public libraries.-G.R. Peirce, emeritus, University of Illinois
