Library Journal Review

Energy efficiency no longer requires exotic designs. Adding insulation is important, but stopping air infiltration and controlling interior humidity is becoming more important. A tight seal helps to retain the heat within the house. Recognizing that, Lenchek devotes considerble space to various applications of air/vapor barrier systems. Using data from Canadian and U.S. government programs, he describes four approaches for building new houses, and gives advantages and disadvantages. Cost effectiveness can be approximated from the tables. Line drawings are clear enough for use by contractors and owner-builders. A valuable, practical addition to home building collections.
