Florida PI Harry Brock's latest case deals with the timely issue of human trafficking. When a young Guatemalan Indian woman manages to escape from her captors in Avola, Florida, she triggers a series of events that bring Harry in to assist the police. His friends on the force can't relate to the Hispanic community, so they ask Harry to work with Soñadora Asturias, who runs a clandestine rescue organization that assists trafficking victims. In the process, the two become targets of the criminals running the ring. This situation jeopardizes Harry's on-again, off-again relationship with his ex-wife, whom he still loves and who has come to Harry seeking his assistance in dealing with their teenage daughter, Minna, who has been assaulted and is now emotionally traumatized. Roby has another winner with this action-packed story full of colorful characters. Recommend this series to Carl Hiaasen fans.--Bibel, Barbara Copyright 2009 Booklist

A young Guatamalan Indian woman's escape from a gang of human traffickers triggers several murders, and Harry Brock (Fear Death by Water) is asked to help the local police in Avola, FL, investigate. He also worries about his ill friend, Tucker, recently attacked by feral pigs, and must puzzle out how to help his traumatized adopted daughter, who escaped a sexual attack. Verdict Here are enough twists and turns for a satisfying mystery that might appeal to readers of Chris Knopf. (c) Copyright 2010.
