Summary
CRC Standard Curves and Surfaces: A Mathematica® Notebook enables you to plot all of the functions found in CRC Standard Curves and Surfaces. The program organizes curves and surfaces in a hierarchical, reference-type format that makes it easy to find and plot a desired curve or surface. Mathematica expressions required to produce a function plot are set and ready for you to evaluate. This allows you to quickly extract the correct expressions and paste them into your current working notebook. You can also plot the figures in this program and then cut and paste them to other applications.
CRC Standard Curves and Surfaces: A Mathematica® Notebook also has several other unique features designed to allow you to explore the full potential of curve and surface functions. For example, if you are interested in fully understanding a certain function, the program allows you to change the plotting options and replot the function several times. Many of the more complicated setups for function plots in the notebook can be used as templates for plotting figures not presented in CRC Standard Curves and Surfaces. The program also features a complete index of curve names-an indispensable tool for anyone working with curves and surfaces.
CRC Standard Curves and Surfaces: A Mathematica® Notebook is a powerful, easy-to-use program that will be of interest to Mathematica users in the physical, engineering, and computer sciences.
Systems requirements: This program will run on Macintosh II computers. Five or more megabytes of RAM is required, and a coprocessor is recommended. Macintosh 6.07 or later and Mathematica version 2.0 or later are required.

Choice Review
In this second edition of one of the numerous CRC handbooks, von Seggern has corrected errors that were found in the first edition of his work, CRC Handbook of Mathematical Curves and Surfaces (1990). Curves and Surfaces will be a useful book for the scientist, mathematician, engineer, and anyone else who might use special curves, from the architect to the zoologist. All curves have been checked using the computer program Mathematica. Many additional curves have been added to this second edition, and three-dimensional drawings are included from the Mathematica printouts. An excellent text for a library or as a personal reference. The Mathematica Notebook diskette, accompanying this second edition (priced separately), provides the opportunity to change the parameters to meet individual needs. The Mathematica Notebook product, an electronic supplement to this second edition of von Seggern's Curves and Surfaces, is separately available. With this Mathematica product the user has the opportunity to change the parameters to create additional curves to fit the user's data exactly. Also, the three-dimensional drawings can be looked at from different positions by rotating the picture. All graphics can be examined in color depending upon the parameters. An excellent addition to the second edition of CRC Standard Curves and Surfaces, and one that could be used without the hard-copy edition. Community college; undergraduate through professional. J. C.
