Summary
Foreword by Edgar Schein
Now, for the first time, the writings of this pioneer are gathered in one comprehensive volume. The Collected Papers of Roger Harrison brings the author's hard-to-find classic works together with new material written expressly for this collection. Designed for consultants, teachers, trainers, and students, the Collected Papers contains the intellectual legacy of the life Harrison describes in his autobiography, Consultant's Journey: A Dance of Work and Spirit. As a body of work, these writings offer a comprehensive history of the organization development profession, plus a radical new vision of its future as seen through the eyes of one of its leading practitioners.
Author Notes
ROGER HARRISON is an internationally recognized leader in the field of organization development. Harrison has practiced in both the United States and Europe for eight years, making a name for himself as a consultant and trainer of consultants for such clients as Rank Xerox, Imperial Chemical Industries, Mobil, Esso Europe, Shell International, and Volvo AB. He is currently a senior consultant with Innovation Associates of Framingham, Massachusetts.
Reviews 1
Booklist Review
Although he is not as well known as many other theorists and authors in the discipline of management science, Harrison is recognized for developing a questionnaire widely used to analyze corporate culture and for helping pioneer the use of T-groups and sensitivity training in the organizational environment. His ideas have been influential in organizational studies, specifically with regard to development, culture, and learning. Grouped together here in those three categories are his writings from the last 30 years. Harrison still actively consults, and these writings reflect a practitioner's point of view. In many cases, he has added commentary on the original papers. This year, publisher Jossey-Bass will also be releasing Harrison's autobiographical Consultant's Journey: A Dance of Work and Spirit. Recommended for academic and large public library management collections. --David Rouse
