Booklist Review
Written by three librarians with backgrounds in creating and managing a joint library facility, Joint Libraries: Models That Work provides a concise overview of the history of joint libraries, legal considerations for such facilities, and tips for human resources, collection development, technical services, and technology. The second half of the book is comprised of extremely helpful case studies of five different joint libraries, including the Virginia Beach Joint-Use Library (scheduled to open in 2013), which the authors evaluate and predict its chances for long-term viability using their list of criteria for successful joint-use libraries. Sample joint-use agreements can be found in the appendix and are also available for download in editable Word format. Anyone considering a joint-use project would be wise to consult this work first.--Elliott, Julie Copyright 2010 Booklist
