Choice Review
This is a new student edition abridgment of the 11th edition of Architectural Graphics Standards (2007), which has perennially and rightfully been considered the "architect's bible." The content of this 2008 edition (the first revision since 2000) reflects the continually evolving practices and practicalities of contemporary architectural thought, including ecological design principles. It has been updated for ease of use, including a reorganization of the text to more closely correlate to the workflow of the architectural process. Sections in the book include "Building Elements," with chapters titled "Substructure," "Shell," "Interiors," "Services," "Equipment and Furnishings," "Special Construction and Demolition," and "Building Sitework"; "Materials," with chapters titled "Concrete," "Masonry," "Metals," and "Wood"; and "Issues of Contemporary Practice," with chapters titled "Sustainable Design," "Inclusive Design," "Computing Technologies," and "Architectural Research." Beautifully designed and resplendent with thousands of clear architectural illustrations, this title is an indispensable resource for all architecture students, new architects, and libraries supporting architecture programs. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Lower-level undergraduates through graduate students; professionals/practitioners. L. F. Lister Colorado College
