This directory provides an invaluable guide for researchers, academics,and industrialists who wish to extend their contacts in the Pacific area. Coverage does not extend to the humanities or the social sciences. The arrangement is alphabetical by country, then by organization. Because subsidiary institutes are listed following the parent organization, access is best obtained by using the organizational and subject indexes. First users should, however, be aware that subsidiary listings may not give full information or scope. Americans may be surprised at how many of the listings are for government or university centers, but that is a feature of the area. Titles and names in nonroman scripts are transliterated and the index also contains English translations. Useful for libraries serving a sci-tech, research-oriented clientele.
