Summary

Illustrates the wide range of library functions which are well served by locally designed applications of database management systems. The level of programming expertise involv ed in the applications varies from elementary to expert. Booklist Review

Useful information in 10 different areas of library interest. Each article addresses the usefulness of dBase, hardware and software selection, setup, etc., as applied to serials management, acquisitions, newspaper indexing, lending, direct mailing, etc. Illustrations give screen-shot facsimiles, menus, and printout examples. For library staff considering using dBase, this is an excellent place to start. Unfortunately, though not a critical shortcoming, the title phrase 101 Uses bears no relation to the contents. Bibliography; index. ~--Patrick Dewey
