Summary

Summary

This volume, along with its companion volume, aims to provide a panoramic survey of the patterns, causes and consequences of urbanization in Asia - a process which is resulting in the biggest migration of people and the greatest changes in lifestyle ever to have occurred . The chapters provide not only case-study material of particular cities, but also introductions to many different analytical perspectives. Volume I addresses the more physical aspects of urbanization, whereas Volume II deals with the human and environmental impacts.
