Abstract:
This paper describes a simple decomposition technique that is used in conjunction with triangular factorization for extending the applicability of Newton-Raphson method to solve load-flow problems of large systems, which was not previously feasible. Considerable reduction in computer memory requirementand solution time are achieved and the proposed approach makes it possible to use Newton-Raphson method on small-size computers to tackle ill-conditioned situations. The effect of acceleration factors over the rate of converegence is illustrated. A comprehensive account of the characteristics of the proposed approach is given. Details of solution algorithm and results of anumber of systems are incorporated.
