Abstract:
In this study the DoE method was used in designing the oncrete mix for high-strength concrete. Three different mixes with water-cement ratios of 0.35, 0.39 and 0.43 were made. The hardened conccrete was tested for its compressive, tensile and flexural strengths. Rice husk ash and concensed silica fume were used as mineral admixtures and incorporated in the mix as partial cement replacement. The chemical admixture used was superplaticizer (Rheobuild 1000). The effect of these mineral and chemical admixtures on concrete strength were investigated. The experimental results showed that the DoE method can be used in designing the concrete mix for high-strength concrete. The strength of the hardened concrete tested in this study were in the range of 60 to 85 N/mm2. The rice husk ash was found to increase the concrete strength with the elvel of replacement as high as 30 percent. Similarly, condensed silica fume and superplasticizer also increase the sterngth of the hardeneed concrete. The average retio of 7-day to 28-day compressive strength obtained was 0-81. The average retios of tensile to compressive strength and tensile of flexural strength were 0.065 and 0.65, respectively. All the results obtained in this study were comparable with the results obtained by other researchers.
