Abstract:
The vibration characteristics or many types of beams have been studiedexperimentally, to observe the changes in natural frequency due to deliberately induced faults; so that the corresponding changes in the valueof flexural (EI) of the beam can than be obtained from the theoreticaldeveloped Eular for beam. This means, once the natural frequency of any ruinouis beams is known, its strength property and safety for use can be easily estimated. The Experimental results show obvious changes of frequency due to open crack but onlyslight changes in the case of close crack (Fatigue-crack).Ultimately, it is hoped that this vibration testing method and result couldptovide a simple and quick diagnosis to the quality of integrity structure. The auality of the structure moght change from its design stage due tocrack, fatigue, corrosion and other destructive factors, after years ofservice.
