The prime objectives of this paper is to demonstrate the feasibility of implementing an automatic wheel wear compensation to a retrofitted CNC optical profile grinding machine. Various possible techniques leading to the final solution will first be discussed. The development of the technique and its implementation to the actual machine will then be described.
