Abstract:
This Bachelor's project is a case study carried out in HKT(M) Sdn Bhd, focussing only in one of the production departments, table Line C. The objective of this thesis is to identify the main problems and propose solutions with finished plan, and aim to improve the productivity of the present system. The present IE systems in Table Line C, such as safety, facilities planning, work study, producation and inventory control and quality system are evaluated critically from industrial engineering point of view. The main problems hav e been identified, they are frequent machine brekdowns (60 to 90 case permonth, out of 30 machines0, cause by breakdoen maintenance system and high producats rejection rate (13%), cause by judgement inspection. Also, there are complaints saying that the breakdwon machines are not being repaired immdeiately and affect the overall productivity. Total Producative Maintenance (TPM) and CEDEC System are proposed to solve the maintenance and quality problem, respectively. The proposals consist of implementation plan through step buy step approach, technical aproach and the plan of administration. Simulation has shown that by adding one maintenance technician to second shift, the job orders average queue time of Table Line C in maintenance department can be reduced more than 50% and 34% for maintenance cost.
