Abstract:
Simulation programs are tools which help in the designing and/or verification of hardware design before the hardware itself is built. In the education environment, appropriate simulation programs can help in the enhancement of the students' understanding of concepts /subject matter that is being taught. This paper will discuss the requirements of simulation programs that are deemed appropriate in the teaching of electrical engineering courses. Suggestions on the incorporation of simulation programs in electrical engineering courses will also be given. Examples of the use of a simulation program as an aid in the teaching of an electrical engineering undergraduate course will be presented.
