Nonlinear boundary value problems arise in many applied science and engineering fields, and there are many books that deal with solution strategies for these problems. This very significant work focuses on exact solution methods. Rogers and Ames are well known for their contributions in applied mathematics and, therefore, well qualified to write on the subject. Their book deals with Buckland and involutory transformations, Bergman-type expansion methods, model constitutive laws, group invariance analysis, and tables of symmetry group generators. Each chapter contains a variety of applications of different techniques of nonlinear boundary problems. The text is well written but requires at least undergraduate-level training in applied mathematics for meaningful comprehension. The quality of illustrations, references, and index is equal to the quality of other current technical publications. Recommended for university libraries supporting advanced mathematics and engineering programs. -A. Aziz, Gonzaga University
