These reviews, as separate chapters, provide current references and an overview of the most recent status of topics relevant to the broad area of materials science and to advanced inorganic chemistry courses. The topics include molecular inorganic superconductors, molecular inorganic magnetic materials, metal-containing materials for nonlinear optics, inorganic intercalation compounds, biogenic inorganic materials, clay chemistry, polymeric coordination complexes, metal-containing liquid crystals, and precursors for electronic materials. Some of the topics are quite broad (e.g., clay chemistry); other topics appear to be much more sharply focused.
