Summary
Summary
With the recent expansion in materials chemistry, this book addresses some of the key areas that have seen vigorous research and in which inorganic materials are central. Each chapter provides an introduction to the subject under discussion and then develops the field to provide a sensible but critical overview, with certain topics being developed.
Reviews 1
Choice Review
A collection of nine reviews of inorganic materials topics written by different authorities. These reviews, as separate chapters, provide current references and an overview of the most recent status of topics relevant to the broad area of materials science and to advanced inorganic chemistry courses. The topics include molecular inorganic superconductors, molecular inorganic magnetic materials, metal-containing materials for nonlinear optics, inorganic intercalation compounds, biogenic inorganic materials, clay chemistry, polymeric coordination complexes, metal-containing liquid crystals, and precursors for electronic materials. Some of the topics are quite broad (e.g., clay chemistry); other topics appear to be much more sharply focused. However, these chapters can provide entry points into the primary literature of the subject areas. Advanced undergraduate; graduate; faculty; pre-professional; professional. J. P. Chesick; Haverford College
