Project management is a wide topic and can be applied by many people to many types of projects. Project management is also applicable int the management of real property developments projects in Malaysia. In fact, developers here have recognised the necessity to deploy project management in the implementation of development projects to cope with the complex building process of the present-day. Formerly, organisations used to adopt the name project management for their approach to the mangement of development projects without practising the techniques nor abiding by the principles embodied in project management. Their actions can only be described as haphazard and may lead the project to a disastrous end. Awarenes has however come about in recent times that project mangement is an organised discipline and with proper usage, can make a project into a success. To show the application and effectiveness of project management in real property development, this dissertation is presented in four parts. Part one provides a short but comprehensive picture of both project management and property development. A general description of the features, principles and key techniques of project management is given together with the salient features of property development.
