Choice Review

A timely and fairly comprehensive book that will be very useful to both students and researchers. It is most appropriate for graduate students and faculty, but some advanced undergraduate students may also find it helpful. The topics covered are wide ranging among the various areas of plasma physics. Both authors are well-established plasma physicists and are among the leading experts in the field of plasma simulations. Their book is written in a clear manner and is aimed at getting the inexperienced reader started in simulations from early on. The quality of illustrations and printing is good, although some of the illustrations, especially those ``phase space density plots,'' are too light. Academic libraries are well advised in acquiring this book. Level: upper-division undergraduate and graduate students in physics.-M. Coplan, University of Maryland at College Park
