Abstract:
Antennas are significant components in wireless communication technology where they are employed to transit and receive the electromagnetic waves transfer through the communication channel. We set out to study and understand the design, test and optimizing of a planar inverted F-antenna as a divestiay reception element to work in conjunction with amonopole antenna for hand-held radio-phone in modbile environment. The need for diversity facility in the mobile communcation terminal is very vital as well as in the base station. The system of diversity facility in the hand-held radio phone was adopted bu a Japanese organization called NTT in 1991. The diversity element used in the NTT hand-held radio phone is a printed antenna (i.e PIFA). Little is available in the literature about the design and measurements techniques, although the diversity antenna was introduced early 1991, due to the commercial benefits of this technology. The project introduce the problem of designing a monopole and printed antenna mounted on a conductive body (i.e. teleepohone box) when operator is included. The effect of operator was measured. Achieved divestity lelvel was discussed with the relative parameters such as correlaltion coefficient, mutual coupling and isolation between the two diversity ports (i.e. monopole and PIFA). Three papers were published form the thesis locally and internationally and are included in the appendix.
