Author Notes
DAVID H. LEMPERT has held teaching positions at the University of California at Berkeley, the Leningrad State University in Russia, and most recently at the George Washington University. From 1990 to 1993, he was a visiting scholar and research associate at Harvard University. He is also head of the Unseen America program, which helps students create educationally and socially meaningful internship experiences around the nation and the world.
