Abstract:
This thesis describes a project carried out to investigate selected low cost photogrammetric systems using small format photography for use in the recording of building. All the systems used are menu driven and use software which is compatible with an IBM personal computer. The thesis commences with a review of the use of small format photography in architectural photogrammetry. Four systems are then investigated and tested on selected building facades in the University of Newcastle upon Tyne precinct. The results obtained from these systems are compared with those obtained from the Zeiss Planicomp P3 analytical plotter which is available in the Department of Surveying. Finally, conclusion are drawn concerning the suitability of the four systems for use in the recording of buildings.
