Abstract:
Hot dip galvanizing is an effective metallic coating in order to protectthe iron from corrosion that incurs a great loss of money. So it is apropriate to study or do some researches upon the galvaniaing process. The objectives of this project is to study the surface and cross sectionmorphologies of specimens from the different plants. By the way, alongthe study it found that the properties of the coating are mainly influenceby the imemrsion time, bath temperature, bath composition, pretreatment process and post treatment process. However, the engineering properties of the specimen remain unchanged or only slightly changed. The greater the bend readius the greater the crack will incurs upon the coating. From the microscope study, it shows that the coating is composing of severalzinc-iron alloy layers. However, the study could not identify the element composition of each layer, SEM and EdaX were used to do the detailemicroscopic study upon the coating. The investigation found that the surfaceof the specimen is mainly composed of zinc and the concentration of ironincreases form outer layer towards inner layers. Besides, it found that thewhite deposit upon the surface of the specimen is mainly composing lead.
